It
was Hallowe'en, and an eerie silence fell across The House of Magic.
The wicked vampire, Baron Von Grindle, waited on his perch in The Enchanted
Garden for the hapless mortals to arrive...
Blood-curdling
screams from the garden announced the arrival of the first unsuspecting
guests, as they tried to escape the bloodthirsty clutches of the evil
Baron...
An
assortment of ghoulish guests soon started to gather in The House...
Whilst
drinking and dining, these grisly apparitions were entertained by The
House of Magic's cunning Close-Up Tricksters...
Or
hearing their fortune told by the Invisible Soothsayer on The Whispering
Chair...
And
only the bravest souls ventured down for a tour of The Haunted Cellar
with Rafe, the mad butler and his vampire sister...
Little did these spooky guests realize that the entertainment had only just begun... A deep, disembodied voice announced that The Master's Show was about to commence... |
The
excited guests gathered hastily in anticipation of the spectacle they
were about to witness...
Rafe, The Master's butler, took the stage to announce... The Incredible Voltini and Nurse Electra demonstrating their death-defying feats of electrocution!! |
As if the eager audience had not been prepared enough, Rafe the butler leapt back onto the stage to announce... Duncan Wisbey with his plethora of musical impersonations and voices from beyond the grave!! |
And then, the moment everyone had been waiting for... Bright, white light and smoke poured through a slowly opening crack in the ceiling heralding the arrival of The Master of The House of Magic... Simon Drake |
The
entranced audience gasped with horror as a celebrity victim was selected
for amputation...
And
then another unsuspecting innocent for decapitation...
As for the rest of his show... well, you'll just have to come and see for yourselves what happened next! Needless to say, the rest of the evening was filled with dancing and frivolity, and The Master and his guests were honoured by an impromptu performance of The Time Warp by the great Richard O'Brien himself... |

Satisfied
that the evening had been a success, The Master allowed the vampire
Grindle to quench his thirst for blood.

The
next day we had a great review in the Standard...
"It is all good, clean fun, and the best thing is that no one can work out how it's done. This secret location in SE1 is the place to be when the nights are drawing in, as they seem to be at the moment. Tommy Cooper would have loved it." Pete Clark Evening Standard |
